Chlidren's Hospital

Last week Ellis started running a fever. Knowing she didn't feel well we went through the list of what it could be. Teething always made Gracie and Cole run a low grade fever. Cole had ear infections early on and Gracie always ran high fevers with any virus. So, Tuesday we were off to the Doctors office. They do her wellness check and nothing shows up. I'm thinking fever virus. After a few tests they determine she has a UTI (urinary tract infection.) Ouch! This is a first for us. Poor baby was admitted to Children's to fight the infection and run a few more tests. She was a trooper. Dr. Hutto had an IV port in her little arm. The nurses would come give her medicine through her IV every 6 hours. It turns out Ellis has a mild cause of kidney reflux. Her bladder doesn't completely empty every time. Fortunately, since this is mild we should grow out it in the first year. Thank goodness our stay was short. Once her fever had broken for 24 hours we were able to come home. We were so impressed with the staff at Children's. They took care of my baby and answered a million questions from me with a smile. I'm sure they were ready for me to go. Granna flew in to help us out with the kiddos. We are all now back to school and work. Thanks Granna for helping us out!
